A Strong Voice for West County

John Gioia is proud to be a strong progressive voice for the diverse communities of West County on the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors.

John has successfully built coalitions to address issues such as affordable housing, homelessness, violence prevention, environmental justice, climate change and the environment, access to affordable healthcare and public transportation, air and water quality, criminal justice reform, and expanded youth opportunities.

He listens to his community and is committed to holding the powerful accountable and raising up the voices of our most vulnerable residents. John works alongside many dedicated community, labor, social justice, environmental and business leaders to achieve hard-fought victories and real results that matter for West County residents.

John relies on people for support and does not accept any contributions from corporations. He is especially proud that the Contra Costa Labor Council, representing over 85,000 union workers in our county, has recognized his work on behalf of working families and endorsed his re-election.

John grew up in Richmond, graduated from El Cerrito High School and the University of California with a BA in Political Science and a law degree. His public service was inspired by his father, a popular government and history teacher for 20 years at Richmond’s Kennedy High School.

Join John’s fight for health and equity for all Contra Costa residents!
